TONAR MUSIC© is proud to present the release of MARACAÍPE with the Beijing Guitar Duo, composed of the extraordinarily gifted young guitarists Meng Su and Yameng Wang.
The CD draws its name from one of the pieces on the recording, "Maracaípe," a guitar duo Sergio Assad wrote for and dedicated to the Beijing Guitar Duo. Other music for two guitars is "Suite Retratos" by Radamés Gnattali and "Jobiniana No. 1" also by Assad. This CD also contains solo guitar music: Sergio Assad's "Sonata" is performed by
Yameng Wang, and "Aquarelle" and "Remembrance" is performed by Meng Su.
Winners of many international guitar competitions, Meng Su and Yameng Wang first met while studying at the Central Conservatory in Beijing, China where they studied with Professon Chen Zhi. They traveled across the globe to continue their advanced studies with GRAMMY nominated guitarist Manuel Barrueco at the Peabody Conservatory,
under whose guidance the duo was formally established and this recording was conceived. Manuel Barrueco is the executive producer on this recording while Sergio Assad provided the text on the music.
